Drawing...with Kitty Wallis

I signed up a couple of months ago with Kitty Wallis for her drawing class. It is safe to say that I have always had a bit of natural ability when it comes to drawing, but in the past I have not concentrated on specific goals. The new class with Kitty affords the opportunity to do just that. The classes are a combination of the teachings of Nicolaides, Carone and, of course, Kitty herself. Kitty comes on one Wednesday at the beginning of the month. For the rest of the Wednesdays in the month we return to the Fire and Earth Studio (without Kitty) and work from a live model referring to an assignment list that Kitty sends ahead. Last night, however, those of us who were signed up for the month of February got a bonus! Kitty paid us a surprise visit and brought Wallis sanded paper and some pastels that were sectioned off into values. We were told to chose only 5 pastels from these sections (light, medium light, medium, medium dark and dark). Then our assignment was to fill the page with the figure and render her with only those five pastels. We really enjoyed this exercise!
