Red sky at night, sailors' delight

The saying, "Red sky at night, sailors' delight, red sky at morning, sailors take warning" has always fascinated me...because from my own experience it seems completely true! If the red is in the evening no problem.. if the sunrise is red, the good weather has passed and rain is more likely to move in!

Another very accurate weather thing is (at least where I grew up in the midwest) ...if there is a distinct ring around the moon there will be snow the next day. It happened every time! Do you have weather indicators that you can count on?

99.9% of the time I can count on it being dry and hot/warm in Las Vegas. Does that count?

This sky you created is TREMENDOUS! A flaming beauty, to be sure. I can just imagine looking around and everything has a pink cast because of the sky.

What a gorgeous sunset, Celeste! The colors are fabulous and I too always remember that little adage. I hadn't heard about the ring around the moon though; I'll have to be more alert to that one.

As an aside, what I meant on my blog post was that I would hate to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them out of my unique styles that I admire list. Better to not do that, I think. Occasionally I do, however, post and link to another's blog if something interesting or intriguing is mentioned or if there is a lesson to be learned. I just didn't think a list would be appropriate or necessary. I just hate the thought of hurting anyone's feelings.

We do have weather indicators. Here, we can see the rain travelling towards us and know when to pack up our picnics and run for cover befgore it hits us. it depends on where you are of course.

A gloriious painting! As an "old salt" I used to pay attention to the old adage. There's truth in it!

Another weather indicator is if we're out of half and half it will rain the next morning and I will have to walk to the little store to get it.
This painting flames my desire to paint.

Beautiful painting. I'm not usually awake for sunrises--not sure if we have red ones around here.

"If cows are lying down, rain is on the way." We don't have many cows here in town, though.
