I have a few "Speedball Mona Lisa Gessoed Artboards" that I have never opened and I thought I would try one today. I was surprised by the smooth surface... it is crazy smooth! I just made up my mind (after yestereday's debacle) that my strokes would all be deliberate today--no indecision!Oil on 8 x10 gessoed hardboard

Hi Celeste, you sure meant business with this painting. It has real power. You rendered the light beautifully. Well done.
As far as your last post is concerned, you didn't fail. You succeeded in learning something new. BTW you have a hippo in your rock garden. lol
Good to know that Mona Lisa is an accomplished surface finisher. If a painting could have a detrmined stride, this one would - very dynamic.
Hi Celeste,
really nice brushwork that command a lot of attention. I like the way the interest radiates from the center, very original.
Crazy smooth seems to be crazy good for you! Love the color and movement. I feel like an elephant on skates with smooth board. I don't have the control that you do.
A lively piece indeed! Your decisive work dances :-)
I love this piece, Celeste. The colors are gorgeous and I always love trees and green. Do I see a lake beyond? Such a lovely spring or early summer feel to this one. I find I want to be under that tree with a good book!
I think deliberate brush strokes and focused attention makes for an
intimate piece of art.
I feel like I'm dancing in the park! this paint has energy, fun,
sun, color, and a sense of love and compassion.
Boy, I ring every thing I can from art like This! It's a wonderful painting, and I'll bet you loved painting it!
Ha! Sheila! An elephant on skates..
so magicaly expressive !!!
a gift to the eyes !
Beautiful dreaming paintin, the result is awesome :) nice job
Just beautiful. I love your free brushstrokes and how they combine to create flashes of color. This is such a lively scene, given the subject - like the wind is blowing and the sun is flashing! At first I thought it was a monotype, it gives that impression to me (at least online). Wonderful.
enjoyable to see since my landscape is so different right now (completely under snow)
I like the effect that you got on the smooth, the sliding added to the gesture.
I am glad that I dropped by, Celeste. The dynamic colors and brushwork is extremely effective!I Love your painting!
The composition and use of colors on this beauty are so strong that I didn't notice anything amiss about your brushstrokes until you mentioned it. And then I was hard-pressed to figure out what you mean. If there was indecision here you covered it well.

absolutely stunning!! gorgeous.
Very light and loose. I like this Celeste.
Beautiful scene. Of course, I'm now picturing Mona Lisa speed skating in the Olympics.
I love this. The energy! The color! The determination! The spontaneity!
Love it! Aren't the smooth surfaces fun to work on? Wicked fun!
