Cowpunching ideas

I am thinking of painting a cowboy type painting...so I sketched this out very loosely in just three values. Sketching with paint is always fun! I may or may not go to the next step.

hm. What's making you think of cowboys?

Nicely sketched horse, by the way!

I think you must leave this sketch as it is. It is very fresh and spontaneous. For a larger painting you can start a new one maybe?

Hi Marie, no I would not be doing anything further with this. It's just a value study and rough concept. Thanks for commenting!

Kaylyn--what has me thinking about cow punching is a call to arts for "art and agriculture". Agriculture also means animal husbandry...so I am just pondering some ideas!

You definitely caught the "essence" and structure. I like this loose rendering, even if it is a preliminary sketch, because it's strong in motion.

I am looking forward to hearing of the outcome of your pondering. I am sure it will be worth waiting for.

Gosh, Celeste. Even your "sketches" work beautifully as stand alone pieces of art! This is wonderful!!

This is a great value study. The loose brushstrokes really create volume.
