Yesterday, when Katherine van Schoonhoven & I were at the Gardens we talked about scenes that are a challenge to paint (like "just trees"). During Eric Jacobsen's workshop he reminded us that the paintings we remember most have much fewer details than we think. Less is always more! All these things (plus St. Patrick's Day) were in my thoughts as I painted this predominately green scene today.Oil on 9 x 12 canvas panel

It's gorgeous, Celeste! Suggested detail definitely works here. And that luscious range of greens...Wow!! Erin go bragh!
Celeste...I just love this painting!! the greens..the simplicity, yet the depth.Great!
This is a trembling luminous green.
Hi Celeste,
Great way to celebrate Sain't Patrick! You got great colors and a superb composition as well.
This is really a strong piece Celeste! So difficult to get good greens yet you have a whole field here. Love the simplicity.
Less is the most - especially when you're handling it. Love your lush greens...
Happy St. Patty's.

Wow ireland famous for its green. They say there are forty shades of green, I suspect there are more, in Ireland you seem to have used most of them in this painting and yes less is more. great .
Oh Celeste!! This is so stunningly beautiful! I love trees and the color green and a combo of the two always makes me swoon. I love the bit of haunting to those distant tree trunks...Just an exquisite piece!!
Love the richness in this! The greens with that sky color has such an appeal to me.
Less is more, more or less!
(Happy St. Pattys!)
Just beautiful! The colors are so rich and I like the soft edges. You captured all those greens in a stunning painting.
Wow! This is a great GREEN painting and feels just like our pollen-laden Spring! Love it!
Your painting is full of gorgeous green... expectancy...
I'm glad you came by and left a comment - it brought this fresh hopeful green to my eyes this morning. Ah!
Good work by green, yes. And that very interesting texture.
Yes the texture is definetly worth a comment or two. Even tho those beautiful greens got most of the attention. Texture of a watercolor with richness of an oil painting, handled with bold yet subtle color feeling.
It's simply beautiful
