Today, during my neighborhood walk, I came across an unexpected "mini-farm". it is not every day that you see a huge turkey in someone's yard! It stopped me in my tracks! A woman came out of her house to tell me that I was welcome to visit closer if I wanted. Ok! I took some photos and asked (gingerly)..."You're not going to eat your turkey....are you?" --"oh, no way", she replied, "he's a pet and very friendly. He loves to show off for the passersby". Well. Yeah. I see that. Her "Red Jungle" rooster was similarly show-y..... and I knew he'd make an excellent subject for today's painting.

Very nice! Look at those colors, Celeste. I love this.
What a great day for you. Friendly people and friendly fowl. The painting knocks my socks off--love it.
Today, on the 27th day of March, in the year of 2010, I have come across at least 5 chicken paintings. What does this mean? Do I need, in order to break thru to 'real artist' levels, to find a chicken to paint?
Celeste, you amaze me every day. I love the answers to the question "what is Celeste up to today?" I can never anticipate the answer! And this, by the way, is one fine chicken painting!!
I love the rooster!!!
The turkey has such a beautiful tail he is showing off... :)
What a great find... and an even better painting!

Excellent rooster painting!! I love the palette and brushwork. He has attitude :-)
What a gorgeous turkey! Oh yes...the rooster you painted is quite handsome too! LOL Celeste, I love visiting you. Your words and thoughts often remind me of my own! Gosh, birds of a feather! (Hah! Pun not originally intended but it works well, yes?)
Oh i love your Rooster!!! i love his colors!!

Gorgeous Celeste!! I always love your color story and your ability to call up these glorious images. I see him hanging in a fabulous, old mansion.
An immortalized rooster, wonderful attitude. My friend Ellen lives in Ladd's addition there, there is one yard in one of the alleys that has chickens.
Great colors; great composition. Love the brushwork.
What a dramatic painting, Celeste! This guy is very handsome!
Oh how I love your amazing powerful rooster. This is a rooster of magesty and power and he most certainly rules his 'girls' in the chicken yard.
I thought WOW ROOSTER when I saw this today. You are amazing! Love this!
My roosters would not last a minute in that chicken yard.
Aren't they a great subject with so much colour and great lines?
There is action and drama in this!
that rooster is strutting proud, as
they do!
Your use of color brings this to life.
Very fun piece Celeste!
Celeste what a great painting...
I was telling another blogger a while back about a rooster we had when I was growing up on our farm....he'd chase me each morning when I was heading out to the bus stop! it was a scarey time for me...
roosters, needless to say, hold a special place in my memories and heart! lol
your painting is wonderfull.....love your colour blending....beautiful style!

Love it!!
What a glorious rainbow feathered fellow!
MAy I apologize for spelling majesty wrong? I feel like an idiot and I can't edit it out.
Great job Celeste...fresh and cocky! Come visit me, soon I'll have goats added to the chickens on my block!
Having at one time kept chickens and having had a rooster that looked just like this one I was very moved by your painting Thank you also for your kind comments.
Wow, Celeste! This one is my new favorite among your paintings! The colors, paint application, and draftsmanship, put this artwork up among the best contemporary painters that I drool over.
