Florida

I was born in St. Petersburg, Florida..but I grew up in Illinois. After high school I lived again in Florida for seven years. Florida is such a unique place... the palm trees, reptiles, insects, and outrageous tropical weather makes Florida like world unto itself.
I used to live right next to Coffeepot Bayou in St. Petersburg. Here are some great photos of Coffeepot Bayou on a very nice blog about St. Pete. My Mom and I used to love driving along that cobblestone street!

Oh is this pretty, Celeste! Doesn't the coffee give a nice wash to white paper? I've used it once and loved the result! That said, I really like this view of palm trees. I didn't know you grew up in Illinois...did I? (Oy, one of those mornings.) I've been to FL a couple of times and those roaches (ok, Palmetto bugs) are as big as mice! Scared the you know what out of me first time I saw one of them. Well...that isn't true. They still scare the you know what out of me. Cobblestone streets are so beautiful, such a remnant of the 'old' days...

i am surprised . fron a tropical place as Florida to Portland !!
i prefer Portland ;) nicest wheather :D
i think incredible , Americans are always changing citys and States . this is unusual for me . here in Sao Paulo we use to think the the rest of the country isn't good enough , so we never move .
i sw the photos of the link . it seems like the condoms we have on the shore here . it is cute .
the charcoal work is so good . i liked that at first glance .

Mixing your pleasures? Coffee and charcoal! What a great idea!

I love the shapes of palm trees (aren't there hundreds of varieties of those things?). Like giant feather dusters.

Keep up the great work!

I went to New College in Sarasota for a couple of years...It's surreal, in retrospect. Wallace Stevens wrote some wonderful poetry about Florida.

I spent my high school years between Winter Haven and Arcadia Florida. I remember it well, the undulating tropical heat, the palm trees and orange groves. It's a whole different world from that here in the PNW. You captured it well!

Such vision, location doesn't matter. Your paintings and drawings just speak.

Beautiful small sketch. You've really captured the mood - and love the background wash.
