I found some pastels today and I did this pear study. What about you..do you sometimes work in a different medium? I'm going to do more pastel studies this winter.... for sure.Pastel Study, Celeste Bergin, Pears, 2010, pastel on paper 8 x 12

beautiful pears...wonderful light!
You're a "natural" when it comes to pastels! Beautiful work. I've missed so many of your posts over the summer but will read back so I can see what you've been doing.
See, aren't pastels fun Celeste? More versatility than one can imagine. Can't wait to see your next art piece!
Hi Celeste,
Very nice and expressive, it has a great feeling! Sometime is good to change ..... sometime is great!
For sure, you should...these are gorgeous. I'm addicted to oils and little else, the smell, the silky feel..delicious!
Whenever an artist picks up pastels, a bell somewhere rings.
Wonderful.
I took a ride to Hood River yesterday to see the show. Very nice work from everyone. I think you had more little red dots than anyone else, though, and on some really nice paintings. Congratulations!
Yummy pears! Glad you found the pastels. They're so immediate and less messy than paint, medium, etc. So why do I look like a chimney sweep after using them?
The seduction of pastels will win you over eventually! Well, at least maybe for today! Nice one for sure!
Yes, I do believe you should do some more pastel work. Your pears are incredible!
I like to switch back and forth from collage and painting to relief printmaking. Each helps the other and gives me "new eyes" for a little while, if that makes sense!
Very nice pastel work, Celeste!
Beautiful light effects on your pears Celeste. They are fun to work with till you have to frame them. Then not so fun..
Yes, I worked in acrylic gel today--it dried too fast for this Southerner . Now I'm trying to remove it from a clayboard panel. And I love Scribbler.
Beautiful pears.
You make me want to get out my pastels. Those pears are perfect and inspiring. Yummy mix of colour.
I picked up my pastels some time ago and did a great job. Then a few months after that, after much painting in between and it was a disaster. These pears are wonderful! Casey is happy. I think it is great to use different mediums on occasion - shakes things up.
I love the colors in this and it has such a great sense of lighting. You should do more pastels. You have a flair for them. It's fun to change from one medium to another, don't you think?
