Old truck ......with a minimum of fuss

My idea today was to challenge myself to paint a fairly complex subject in as few strokes as possible.....almost minimalist. (All right, to be truly minimalist, it would be just a big black square, but you know what I mean).

Painting: Celeste Bergin, Old Paint, oil on 12x9 canvas panel

Ma chère Céleste je ne sais pas si votre camion a eu des tracas, mais vous, vous en avez eu guère pour rendre en un minimum de touches l'âme de ce véhicule.

I always like how your work appears to be out of focus. It lets ones imagination soar.

Like a dream. Reminds me of cars in old movies--a chase down a foggy road. (Tomorrow's lottery = $330 million.)

Oh, I really love old trucks! Minimum or maximum, they always bring sweet memories of legendary road trips. This unfussy painting does exactly that. Thanks.

It's so fresh! No noodling. No putting in something approximate and then correcting it. Think about it, load the brush, lay it in. MAGIC!

LOL... a box with a couple of circles for the headlamps is one step toward realism.

Love your challenge. I dont' have the skill yet. I've kill many a painting by over doing it. That is why I am addicted to your blog for inspiration.

Is OId Paint sitting in a field remembering better days gone by, or is Old Paint out on the road enjoying life after 60? That's what I love about this one, it could be either - and is probably a little of both. Your minimum of strokes is bringing up a maximum of thoughts. Sweet!

I like the challenge you set up for yourself and the solution. It seems like the best paintings have the least amount of "fussiness" to them. Can't wait to see what you do next!

OK I'm not sure. I counted 29 brush strokes on that truck! I like the idea though! Say as much as you can with every bit!
(I still want to try out that liquid pencil stuff..)

Love it Celeste! I admire - no, envy - your loose brushwork. So expressive!
