Saturday!

Here in Portland it seems everyone is either a writer, a painter, a graphic designer or a musician. That's what it SEEMS like. I think we also have some bankers, but I never seem to meet them. The solitary, deep-in-thought writer is a common sight in Portland.
In other news, I was awarded a spot in top ten posts on an artist's blog the other day by Casey Klahn. The honor was bestowed on me for my post about painting over an old painting. Casey's blog has it all, his own beautiful award-winning art, thoughtful, serious ideas and a fair amount of humor added in. Thanks, Casey...I sincerely appreciate the recognition.

Painting, Celeste Bergin, Writer, oil on 12 x 16 stretched canvas

I love this painting Celeste! It's from another time and totally captures the loneliness of writing. Just perfect! I saw your blog recognition on Casey's blog. Well deserved!!

Wow! I think I've seen this guy! You've captured the writer's total absorption in his own world or words.

Congrats on the award! You deserve it! Casey called you a POWERHOUSE and he's right! Happy New Year!

Congratulations, Celeste. You definitely deserve the recognition. This is an amazing painting; it's what I think a writer should look like--hunched over; deep in thought.

Celeste!Your painting of the writer
is great! Those birds represent
thoughts, or words he needs to capture for his writing.(That's my take on it.)
I saw Caseys blog, and the recognition he awarded you. Congratulation! (I told you,you are an inpiration!)
Best for the new years, and all year!

Nice one, and another about life in Oregon. The paintings are starting to feel like images from a larger story or message

Congradulations on the TOP 10 award ! I loved your yearly review of Picasa photos. Your Van appears same length as ours. Always need to lighten the load for plein air.

Good work, Celeste. There's a sense of solitary sadness to it...but that's a facet of the creative life sometimes.

Casey's spot on. Congratulations!

Not to get off the subject, but I really like the warm background here. Good complement to the can and brush.
