Cafe

I'm enamored with the work of Dan McCaw. This painting is painted with him in mind...he often favors strong contrast, a limited palette and he seems to cycle through beaches, ballerinas and cafes as his subjects. If you own his book A Proven Strategy, you might want to keep it under lock and key. It's out of print and highly desirable.

Painting: Celeste Bergin, Cafe, oil on 16 x 20 canvas panel

I love this Celeste! Cafe's scenes are one of my more favorite subjects...I don't paint them enough though, but still love them! Such quietness and uber light source. A delight!

I feel like I've been in this cafe. The high contrast idea really works.

Excellent!

I think I've been to this place, too. Reminds me of NY for some reason--a quiet beauty. Unfortunately, I don't have the book; I'll check with my brother who's a rare and used books dealer.

Another great piece - I like the contrast, but mostly the atmosphere. At the end of a long day of work I will often pop into your blog and yours alone (later, when I am home I browse more) because it is such a joy for me to see what you are doing.

And, by the way, the book you recommend is $1,196.26 on Amazon. For me, then, it looks like this book will remain highly desirable, because I certainly am not going to buy it!

Nice job with this cafe scene. I've always admired the paintings of Dan McCaw, as well as those of his two sons. What a family!
