Life painting session --"K" and Cello

This may be my favorite pose from all the Wednesday sessions thus far.  I enjoyed how the model's black dress looked next to the red/orange Cello...and it was extra engaging to consider all the lovely shapes of the instrument.

Painting: Celeste Bergin, Rehearsal, oil on 16x20 canvas panel

The cello is beautiful and you really did a great job in getting the shape. Your model is lovely. Beautiful painting!

I am so impressed, what can I say? Love the unlady-like stance of the woman with the cello, and the way you did the body - so wonderful to look at.

Wow, a curvy red cello. A beautiful and hot painting--colorwise and everywise.

The key is in the shadows, and the likeness/figure. It looks like a Mark Bowman, except not his but very much Celeste Bergin. Well done!

The cello is positioned on a slight angle and you represented that perfectly. I like the color too. This is a really good painting. What happens next, do you paint another version from this one?

Amazing study! Love how you made a woman look elegant with her legs apart! And the colour sings!
Thanks for your comment, too, glad the piglet was a nice surprise.....some folk are horrified.

This is so well done! I agree with everything mentioned by the previous comments, but would add that one of my favorite parts of the painting is how you have just suggested her shoes with minimal strokes and yet they have such a beautiful presence.

What a stunning painting!

I completely agree - the orange against the black really pops. I think the the over-all triangular composition is so strong and supports and enfolds the diagonals of the cello and the intent player. Executed with masterful restraint and economy.

This is really exciting work, Celeste.

You did the cello extremely well ( I know that ain't easy).
I also love the spare use of background color.

Your work just keeps getting stronger. I think I can see your growth by the day! This one is Very Good! Your loose strokes are subtly expressive, capturing the life with poetic accuracy.

Looks like it was a fabulously (and I'm going to repeat a word here) elegant evening! Love how you've captured her beauty and poise and I agree with you on the contrast of the black dress and gorgeous warm wood of the cello.
