"Clue"

I painted this interior today..and in the very end I threw in a figure. Suddenly the scene felt a little like "Colonel Mustard in the library with the lead pipe."  I may or may not develop it further.

Oil sketch: Celeste Bergin, Whodunit, oil on 9 x12 canvas panel

I loved Clue as a kid! Do you remember Colonel Mustard's first name? and his hobbies? Love the strong light on the floor.

Good one Celeste. Clue was one of my most favorite games as a child...still is.

That's a great title...that room really does have a Clue sort of feel! I think addition of the figure was a big plus.

Isn't this stuff that we do fun? I hope he didn't make too much of a mess with that lead pipe...

I love the light you have pouring into the room. You do backlit so beautifully.

Ooh, I love the intrigue of this piece! I see more of a Professor Plum in the library with a candlestick vibe! LOL Beautiful work, as always, Celeste.

The somber lighting and dark female figure is curious for you. Makes me think something's up you're not too happy about. It's not an upbeat painting, (a bowl of flowers on a table or the mantle would give some hope); it does say melancholy very well.

Well, I wouldn't have thought of the Colonel if you hadnt said it first .... But it does have that aire of mystery. Looks like it was fun to paint.

Ah yes - perfect Celeste! We just played that game last week although I don't really love the updated version. Great mood!

Your interiors are great and remind me of other faves like McCaw, Margraret Dyer and Celeste Bergin. You know, all of the champs.

I never played Clue so, to me, this is just a cool painting--like something from Dark Shadows.

It does have the rich feel of mystery. I think it is a wonderful piece. PS - I just saw a room full of paintings from an association of professional artists all over Florida. If you came here, you would be their Queen.
