Monochromatic woman

In my view, painting in just one color and white is a valuable way to spend time at the easel.

Painting: Celeste Bergin, Woman in Blue, oil on 9 x 12 gessoed paper

So magnificent and so moody, both with color and expression. Love her eyelids (don't ask me, I don't know why they stood out for me in this one). Beautiful work, Celeste. I seem to say that quite often, don't I? LOL My mom remembers a painting she saw as a kid called "Green Girl." To this day, she still says it was her favorite painting ever. I guess the girl was painted all in green (which is not my mom's favorite color and she isn't an artist nor an art lover). I've searched for it on the internet but I can't find it. Anyway, this reminded me of that story.

Looks great Celeste! I love the solidity of the form. I haven't done monochromatic in some time - maybe it's time to give it a whirl :)
