Friday--!

I found myself at Columbia Art & Drafting today. I've had my eye on a fountain pen and it was on sale, so I purchased it. Just like the fountain pens of yesteryear, this one has an "ink reservoir" (you draw up ink into the pen from a bottle.......very old-timey)! This new pen has a fine nib and after using it I think I will get another with a broad nib. I sketched this German Shepherd for a test drive...and added a little watercolor.

Sketch: Celeste Bergin, German Shepherd, ink & watercolor on 6x9 paper

I looove fountain pens and all the ritual and paraphenalia that goes with them. And love to draw with them, smudging ink with spit on a finger for shading.

And what a charmer of a pooch! Lovely innocence about this drawing.

What a beautiful little watercolor, Celeste. I wish I could spend a day or two with you. You do so much and seem just as fascinated by all that the world has to offer as I am. What fun we'd have!

In 7th grade, we all thought fountain pens were the bomb! Turned out they were, and we all went around with stained pockets and blue hands.
What a good dog!

I have fountain pens! I haven't used them for almost forever.
After seeing this, I will find them and give them some use.

I also had a german shepard as long ago as the pens.

There's always fun and creative things going on over here. Thanks!

Oh, I need a fountain pen. Nice drawing.

Warning for you, Celeste. If your TV is on (CNN, I believe) and you hear beautiful singing of "Silent Night," don't look. It about the SPCA and homeless animals--made me cry.

Wow - what an excellent drawing. I love all the parallel lines, and the looseness of it all. Makes me want to grab my Lamy Safari - it has an ink reservoir too!
