Friday--!

This is a painting from my archives. I liked it when I painted it. I used to golf and this is very much like a golf course. I enjoyed the greens and even put some green in the sky...it seemed like the right thing to do.  I put this painting in an album on Facebook, and you know, whenever one puts up a painting on Facebook there are scads of compliments like "Good job" "I like it!" "Lovely!" Well! but one guy wrote: "Man! this reminds me of a bowl of pea soup!" It was a rare bit of honesty in a sea of platitudes. I still like the painting.....but I also see his point.

Painting: Celeste Bergin, Links, oil on 9x12 canvas panel

I never would've thought to throw that green up in the sky, but it totally works! You're very good at capturing "moody" skies.

I wonder if Tiger Woods can read these greens better than the ones he's been putting around on the past few days... Nice pea soup. I'd gladly have a bowl of this...

I've never been a fan of platitudes. But? I happen to love pea soup and green is my favorite color. Landscapes are my favorite types of paintings. So that all said, I'd sure say this one is a winner for my tastes.

As to platitudes. I'd rather say nothing at all then ever hurt anyone's feelings. I also try to find what I do like about a piece and talk of that. I also do not like to critique another's work, but if asked, sometimes I can. I have to separate my emotions and be simple though. I don't like getting critiques myself. I'm too darned sensitive. And? I can usually see what the problem is right off the getgo anyway. Why didn't I paint it right in the first place? Lack of skill, plain and simple. If I could've I would've. LOL

Pea soup? He was probably just hungry. It looks like the ninth hole to me--all you need is a flag. I like the green cast you laced into the sky.

I make Pea soup all the time and it never ends up that pretty of a green. There was a teeny tiny bit of snow this morning.

It's a golf course and my ball will either land behind the tree or roll down the sides of that hill.
