Life Painting at Kat Sowa's and First Friday Receptions

What a great day! We had two models at Kat Sowa's life painting session. The models seemed like a couple on the verge of a relationship split. Funny how facial expressions and "body language" visually relay a story. (The models aren't a real couple, they just seemed like one). To see what the other painters did, go HERE.

I also went to 3 receptions tonight! 1. Lane Gallery, "Heart to Heart" (Fundraiser for Abernethy School) 2. Multnomah Village, Gary Stallsworth, Photography 3. Art on the Boulevard, Oleg Ulitskiy and Michael Lindstrom
A slideshow of the evening!:

As I've always said, you manage to infuse a mood, a feeling into your pieces that is coming through so clearly with this piece. There is a sadness to go along with that seeming relationship split. A sense of dissolution or dissolving (literally). I like this very much! Now...how did you manage three events in one night? Beautiful, all of them, but I'm kind of amazed that you made all of them!

You captured very well the mood of this 'false' couple!

I really enjoy life drawing when there are 2 models! It rarely happens, but there is a married couple here who pose together. I like the grey ground you started with. It helps your darks and lights in him really sing.
Nice portraits.
Happy Painting!

The renditions of the two models on the blog are fun to look at. Many strong painters there. Your version has a definite sense of theater.

Amazing double portrait!
I'm coming to your artwalk, Celeste. Hoping to pick up a small rain painting. I'll get there early.
