Oil Sketch

Well, this is just a sketch on gessoed paper. It breaks all kinds of compositional rules, but no need to have me arrested, it was just dashed out for practice.

When it comes to art, I feel the rules are meant to be broken. I think it is a fabulous dash off, my dear. Oh to be able to dash anything off!

Wonderful color balance! Everything works, in spite of middling lines and objects.

I just looked at some Wolf Kahn oils that break these rules, and how he works it all out is fascinating.

We'll let ya go this time ma'am, but know we'll be watchin'. Especially in light of the fact this works a whole lot better than what I've spent a considerable amount of time working on. Remember, though-crime doesn't pay.

Oh I don't know. There are times when we reach a crossroad. Seems this runner is caught at one of those times. That's the message of this composition.
