Friday (the 13th) at Kat Sowa's Studio

Today I painted with 11 other painters at Studio 30 in Cathedral Park Place. (Good thing there wasn't 13, or we might have had bad luck!) As it was, there were no problems to speak of, and it seems that everyone had a good day. I especially liked our model's bobbed hair and the fur trim on her coat. To see what the other painters did go HERE.

Very nice..I like the strong serious expression.

Now if you were there, and 12 other artists were there, then there must have been - nah.

LOL Dan, math is not my strong suit! Thanks for pointing out my error. I edited my post to be correct! Thanks and thanks for the kudos too :)

I love the contrast between her delicate features, the mass of hair and fur and her stern expression. A gorgeous piece.

Very nice portrait Celeste. I like how you captured her expression.

There is something of a 1930s and 1940s glamour in this this gorgeous portrait. I think it is the very things you mention (hair style and feathers). Beautiful job, Celeste!

It's interesting to see how 12 different artists view the same subject.

And, although I like the Sweetman picture, I like the way you shut out the background 'noise' and portray the character of the model.
The others are variations on a theme and tend to let the 'painting' get in the way- yours is unique and I love it!

Lovely, loose portrait Celeste. So much better when painting from life than a reference photo. Thirteen painters painting on the thirteenth was a good day. You had the numerical strength of twenty six going for you.

Now, if you were there, and 11 others artists were there, and the model was there--doesn't that make 13? Beautiful portrait.

I love seeing how each artist saw a slightly different model.
