Saturday!

Today I went to two studios on the Portland Open Studios tour. I visited with Shawn Demarest and Janet Amundson-Splidsboel. Both artists and studios so great to see! Shawn and I had a great conversation about plein air painting. I meant to get to more studios, but it was super-rainy and traffic was terrible. The studios are open for the whole weekend, so I might try to take in one more tomorrow.
Here is a slideshow of some of the sights from today! (Top Photo) Celeste Bergin, In the Wings oil on 6 x 12

Ballet dancers just encapsulate beauty and grace. Your beautiful painting does them justice. Who isn't reminded of Degas when seeing a ballerina in paint?

I like the placement of the shapes created by value differences, Celeste!

Love "In The Wings"! Beautiful on many levels and in many ways. Bravo!
The slide show is fantastic. Many photos that could be turned into wonderful paintings!
I especially love the rain photo through the car window.
Take care.

This dancer is beautiful. You have captured her grace. Love the colors.

Cool photos. Fun to see what you do. I am amazed by the photo where there is a brush (or two) in each jar. Is that the encaustic?

Your dancer is flat out gorgeous. I love the colors, her form and the paint quality. You are so wonderfully versatile.

Heads up, everyone, I have been reminded that this is an "after" painting, in the style of Carolyn Anderson. I do and have painted many paintings in the style of other painters, and I have them in stacks. This did not get the proper attribution until Anonymous reminded me. Good for you Anonymous! See you out in the field!
