What is it that people like about the image of an umbrella? Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't it? I guess we like the idea that we can have a one-person shelter against a sudden storm. Umbrellas seem like a good symbol of personal strength.

Oh! cette semaine dernière était terriblement ventée. Il aurait été très difficile de pouvoir ouvrir un parapluie...
J'aime beaucoup votre interprétation... cette jeune femme frêle qui n'a comme recours à la tempête que son parapluie...
Le fait d'avoir peint cette peinture dans les tonalités sombres apporte une atmosphère particulière et réaliste à votre sujet.

I liked this painting first time around and still do.
The reason women like umbrellas?
1. It keeps the rain off
2. She can poke 'the man' with it ... if he tells her what to do.
I'm all for equality .... but it's doubtful if men will ever get it! ;0)
