I took this painting to our Art discussion meeting this morning. Among other things, we talked about the decisions we make about where to put what.

In talking about placement... I really like the whole lead in and placement of the tree. Then, the almost white reflected area of the water is just the right balance.
I WANT TO BE A PART OF THE THURS GROUP...I AM GOING TO MOVE TO PORTLAND...CELESTE..AS NANCY C SAYS...THE VAUES DO ALL THE WORK...THE COLORS GET ALL THE CREDIT
I agree with Page - I want to be part of such a great group.
Another of your beautiful and atmospheric landscapes. I love them.
I've been reading about the elements and principles of art, such as unity, balance, rhythm, harmony, etc. While all were important to creating a good piece of art, ultimately the artist's own vision is the goal. Funny how I never manage what I see in my own head! LOL I still think this is a pretty piece!
Well, if your group didn't give you an A-plus for placement on this beautiful piece, you should come down to participate in the Miami group where placement rules are thrown out the window.
I agree with the others, of course, except I can go further. I am truly convinced that if I am good, very good, that when I die I will go to Portland - except it will be raining less and far less cold - you know, Miami weather.

I LOVE the reflections in the water from the sky...a Beautiful painting!
This painting is really gorgeous, and your placement of the principles is good in my opinion. Love the olive/rust hues.
just a lovely one Celeste. love the muted colours working so well to describe the light.
This has a special quality to it. It has a lovely softness-dream-like.
