Thursday

Today's suggested discussion topic at the Art meeting was "darkest darks and black". This is one of the paintings I took in to share. To see what everyone else brought go HERE.

This is my BFF Sondra who moved to California (boo)! but came back for a visit (yay)! We had lunch yesterday at Alameda Cafe. It took twice as long to have lunch than usual and as you can see.....we were the last people there. (The waiter forgot to place our order!) Well, he was easy enough to forgive, because he did a good job of taking this picture and ......he looked a lot like Patrick Swayze).

(Top Photo) Painting: Celeste Bergin, Copy (original artist unknown), Woman in big hat, oil on 9x12 canvas panel
(Bottom Photo) Sondra and me

This is wonderful Celeste...I am partial to big hair in big hats in paintings. The darks are nice.

A good example of nice darks in a painting. Good photo of you and your friend.

Ooohhh...Patrick Swayze? One day you'll have to take me to lunch there too! LOL Glad you had such a fabulous day and I still like this painting. I keep thinking she has the most unusual hair style. Today I could see a bit of a difference in her hair and the background color though. Sometimes I can be a bit dense!

So good to catch up with your work and this most excellent composition! You are the best I think, when you punch in those contrasts...love it!
