Wed-nes-day!

No time for painting today, but I managed this sketch from my Sargent book.  I don't know that I've ever seen a dude wearing a hat like this, but I guess it was commonplace in Sargent's day. I enjoy drawing on that toned paper! Thank you, Strathmore!

Sketch, Celeste Bergin, Head of a young man, after Sargent, charcoal on 6x9 paper

I think it reminds me of some of the foreign sailor hats I've seen, but where? Hmmm...maybe in the movies. LOL I love these Sargent studies you've been doing. While I've heard of Sargent, of course, I'm not sure I could pick out his art! (There is a sad lack in my art education.)

Trying to get back up to speed.

I love these Sargent sketches of yours - this one reminds me of Dave Walker ... someone we know, not famous.

Impressive portrait, Celeste. Sargent has wonderful portraits to do these studies with! He has a wonderful face..

These are wonderful. Is this sketchbook just for Sargent? If so, it's a great idea--I wonder who's next.
