More...leftover paint

There is a woman in our art discussion group who paints 'made up' paintings. She just sits down and paints things that 'come to her'. I wanted to try that ........with the paint I had left over on my palette.  I imagine this looks a little like me...(aside from the fact my skin isn't Shrek green)...yeah...I can sort of see me.

Painting: Celeste Bergin, leftover paint, oil on 9x12 gessoed paper

And look at the heart in her face too!! I never can manage to loosen up enough to have an imagination. What a sad thing to admit!

What a freeing way to paint. This is truly a fun, free little work. And who cares about skin tone!

The fact that you can create so well from imagination shows a long history of experience. You know exactly where the planes of the face are and where light will hit it most strongly. You are very good!

Making up a painting is such fun and surprising too. You never know what is going to happen--plus paint is never wasted.

I like the title "leftover paint" Evocative, for sure:-) You are definitely on to something. Maybe I"ll have to do the same. My frugal nature always despises throwing away (or letting harden, more like it) the leftover paint.
