Tuesday!

I just love sketching the models that Sargent painted. Every face seems more lovely than the last. I never like to spend much time on these...and sometimes I come quite close to the original (resemblance-wise). This one was pretty close, but I was surprised to read the original was titled The head of an Italian boy. What?? This is a boy? (Well....there is simply no arguing with Sargent).

Some of my other Sargent sketches: HERE

Also....I got to visit Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River today to see The Crush show (it's about vineyards). What a treat!

Well for a boy she sure is cute! So well done - love this sketch. Your week has been magnificent - great still lives and landscape! Actually the still lives blow me away!!

Another wonderful Sargent piece. I blinked when I read it was a boy. Come to think of it I cannot always tell boy or girl in this day and age either.
What a great looking gallery.

Bonjour chère Céleste,

Un très joli portrait...
J'aurais bien aimé vous accompagner à cette exposition...
J'aime l'atmosphère que crée les caves pour les expositions de peinture.
Gros bisous

Lovely sketch. Sargent had so much to teach us. I painted Madame X for my home at 1/4 the size.

Tomorrow I head to the woods by the river to sit in front of a juniper tree and sketch and sketch until I "get it". Sketching is such a wonderful way to learn.

Another great Sargent exercise, Celeste! How DO you do it all? And I agree with Julie; that gallery looks amazing!

Boy or girl, it's a great study.

Some boys are pretty. My grandson is one. When his hair was about the length in your drawing, he was mistaken for a girl. He opted for a buz cut. Yuk.

Good idea and this turned out beautifully! I like all of them and you can't go wrong looking at Sargent!
