Monday!

Here's a sketch I did today with transparent red oxide, cad red, yellow ochre, black and white on a gessoed/textured canvas panel.

I found myself in the Hawthorne neighborhood today for my walk and went to Powell's bookstore. For once I didn't buy something! That's a first. It was fun to browse anyway.

It was sunny but super cold today. The Hawthorne neighborhood.....is pretty!

Celeste_- Nice sketch! I like the pensive mood of the model and the loose fast brush strokes. And seeing your blue skies is a nice treat. We have had a lot of fog this week. But a bit of blue gets through by afternoons to cheer us up in Vancouver.
May the sun continue to shine down your way.

Your sketch immediately reminded me of your Sargent series; I can see you are learning much from that process! She's beautiful, Celeste! I think Portland is a gorgeous city and I wish I'd had time to visit and explore when I was there. Unfortunately I was there for work and spent my whole day with a detective, which was interesting indeed. Love when you share photos though.

You call this a sketch but to me it is quite an expressive painting. I like the circular pattern in what I assume is the gesso ground? and the effect it has on the piece.

Using the Zorn palette, Anders would be proud.
