This sunset painting is one of those "Less is More" things. There are few colors and few strokes..yet,  (to me) it adequately tells the story.  I knew enough to stop with this right when it made sense to stop!

Here is a recent pear painting. I enjoyed putting down a lot of paint. I went to Art Discussion Thursday last see what everyone brought....go HERE.

I don't know how it is possible that I have never seen the movie Vincent and Theo until this weekend. (It was made in 1990). It was so good! Well, there are a couple scenes that are tough to take...and I bet you can guess which ones. Really, really good.

Some people over by the freeway wanted to remind the motorists that tomorrow is Easter. I got this shot out the car window. Happy Easter!

Today was the "maiden voyage" of a brand new organized group that paints on Tuesdays. Yay! We met at Anna Bananas in St. Johns and then went to Cathedral Park. The clearly obvious thing to paint there the beautiful bridge.

It was an overcast day. No umbrellas needed!

A huge ship chugged past on the Willamette river.

To see more photos from the day.....go HERE. :)

It's Monday!

I touched up this Monet-inspired painting today.

We stopped by Peterson Hall at Linfield College have a look at the photography exhibit about icebergs.

This photo in the center was my favorite in the exhibit. It looked like a ship. (The whole show was worth seeing!) What are you doing today? :)

Yesterday I went to art discussion at O'Connors. The topic was about finishing paintings.  I think I read that Georgia O'Keeffe worked on several paintings at one time. Isn't that interesting?

I got to see one of Craig Srebnik's demonstrations in his Lake Oswego studio today. His studio/classroom is all re-vamped. He painted a street scene with people --just great! I couldn't believe how much he was able to paint in such a short time. . He is such a good teacher. I can't say enough good things about him!

On our walk to Montavilla we ran into my favorite neighbor...Heidi the Swiss Mountain dog...(oh, and her owner is a nice guy too).

Here's the paparazzi.. checking out the tulips. (Thanks, Dave, for the photos)

I drew this "Neopolitan Boy" after Sargent today. I'll add it to my ongoing Sargent Project.

Tonight we went Oleg Ulitskiy's reception at Art on the Boulevard. What a great artist he of my absolute favorites. The gallery looks so beautiful! It was fun to run into some friends and to celebrate Oleg's red dots. Here is a slideshow of photos. (Direct link to photos here).

...A little misty rain fell when I plucked some Camellias from the backyard to bring inside to paint. Camellias are so nice, they bloom during the "off-season".
