Weekend!

This is a painting that was inspired by reference photos and Edgar Payne's boat paintings. Those old wooden boats are made up of beautiful subtle shapes. It's not quite finished yet..but I figured I'd share it early.

How is your weekend?

(Painting): Celeste Bergin, Fishing boats (detail), oil on 20x16 stretched canvas

This one is really lovely just as it is. You are right-really nice shapes.

Just working on some drawings and trying out a new idea. Not sure yet if I will show it:)

Love it! Down to the sea in ships is what I thought when I saw it on my side panel. The lighting is great. The subject is a new one for you? Do more.

Hello Celeste! Love your boat painting! Love the atmosphere in this piece! Composition, lights, darks, and so much more work well to make this one very, very successful! Nice! Also love the portrait from the other day! Take care buddy!

I always think of the sea as haunting...ghostly. You've captured that sense for me in this piece. Really beautiful, Celeste. This isn't your first boat painting that I've loved! I'm going to paint today myself. I need to feed my soul.

You gave me an AHA moment when you mentioned the shape of old boats. Now I know just one more reason why we are drawn to boats...besides being in an ocean setting. I am not sure how much more you are going to do to this painting but I think it looks great now. The composition is awesome!
